40 Inches Strip of Authentic Victorian French Jet Beads - Mourning Funeral Dress

This is an interesting strip of beadwork. It is 3.4 feet long and 3.25 inches wide. It was hard to capture the detail in the photograph.

The edges of the strip have small loops of beads and the surface is covered in a herringbone type of design in small round beads. On top of that design are rows of dangling beads 2 inches long. A string of the small beads and a long pointed bead hanging from every other string.

The applique portion is in good condition. It is not dry rotted, but does have some spots. A bead or two will fall off when it is handled.

These are bits off of a mourning (funeral) dress that belong to someone in my family.

Perfect for millinery, incorporated into an article of clothing or restoring an antique dress.

They show wear consistent with an antique item. The fiber is not brittle but care should be used when cleaning. Suggestion would be, if incorporated into a clothing item, that they be attached in such a way that they can be removed before cleaning.
