Antique American Classic "Trail of the Lonesome Pine" by Fox, 1st Edition, Red and Gilt 1908
Good antique condition. Hardback, red and gold gilt cover. Proper first edition published in October,1908 with matching dates on copyright and title page, with Scribner's seal on copyright page.
1908 romance novel/western novel written by John Fox, Jr. The novel became Fox's most successful, and was included among the top ten list of bestselling novels for 1908 and 1909
"Set in the Appalachian Mountains at the turn of the twentieth century, a feud has been boiling for over thirty years between two influential mountain families, the Tollivers and the Falins. The character of Devil Judd Tolliver in the novel was based on the real life of "Devil John" Wesley Wright, a United States Marshal for the region in and around Wise County, Virginia, and Letcher County, Kentucky."
Spine slightly wonky, dirt on spine, edges remarkably clean for 1908, not a lot of rubbing. Pages clean and only slightly tanned with no foxing. Names in ink inside the front cover and one loose page. All pages are present. The loose page is an easy fix using acid free tape for books.
Stored in plastic in a smoke free home, this has no lingering odors other than a slight old book smell.
