Authentic Antique Book Plate Etching from "Little Doritt" Novel Martin Chuzzlewit
Authentic Antique Book Plate Etching from "Little Doritt" Novel Martin Chuzzlewit
This etching is in its original very good condition. It is an authentic book plate. The work is finely detailed and titled Little Dorrit.
Under that, which is very hard to see, are the words; "he's too proud a chap to eat it ,land, coming out of her chair, shoot her venerable fist so very close to his nose as to tickle the surface."
Little Dorrit is a novel by Charles Dickens. Illustrator Hablot Knight Browne 1815-1882
This is authentic and from the 1800's. The paper is not brittle, although it has foxing and age related tanning. The third photo is more representative of the color of the print.
The mat is ivory.
The entire picture including mat is 5" x 7"
Ready to frame, however, I suggest this be remounted and then framed.
(no books were harmed for this listing, they were too far gone to completely rescue.)
Stored in a smoke free home.
Shipping in the US only.
