This lap desk measures 11 1/2" x 8" x 3 1/2" when closed. It has painted decoration on the top in black and gold. The condition is average and it has some repairable damage.
There are compartments inside with a cover that serves as the desk. The writing area is covered in ink stained felt that will be easy to replace. There are small storage spaces in the front. When fully open, it is slanted for comfort in writing.
I do not have the key and the box shows wear from use and age. There should be a little latch under the top to hold the desk part up that is missing. I do not know the type of wood. There is a secret compartment under the little ones. All parts come off and fit back fine.
It needs a cleaning and would look great if the felt was replaced with leather.
All things considered this is a nice item and would benefit from a thorough tidying and repair.
